Joan Crawford PSM  had 19 years’ experience in local government aged care service provision and was a recipient of an Order of Australia – Public Service Medal for Services to Aged Care and Rotary’s Jock Andrews Award for vocational services to older people. She has extensive experience with people in crisis situations, often concerning home services, loneliness, accommodation, rent rises and eviction. She has often seen the fear of premature residential care.  Joan was a volunteer with the South Port Community Legal Service for ten years and Chairperson of a “No Interest Loans Scheme” for people on low incomes. Joan retired in 1998 and joined the Homeshare Committee shortly after and worked voluntarily with the Homeshare team two or more days a week for 10 years. Joan retired reluctantly from the committee in 2015 for health reasons and has been awarded life membership of HANZA in recognition of her outstanding contribution.
